We are the first winery in the nation to receive the prestigious LEED certification from the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). Barrel Cellar...
Our dedication to world class quality is paralleled by our desire to achieve it sustainably. Following the principles of The Natural Step, we pursue environmentally friendly practices in all phases of our business. For example:
- We farm our estate vineyards organically and received full USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) organic certification in 2005 from Oregon Tilth.
- Our estate vineyards have been certified "green" by LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology, an international certification).
- We use 50% biodiesel in our farm tractors.
- Our underground barrel cellar, built to US Green Building Council standards, became the first winery in the country to earn the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
- We use unbleached paper products for labels, wine boxes and gift bags whenever possible.
- We recycle everything we can, from office paper to pallet shrinkwrap.
