What?! We can't be into the third day of Spring 2012 and have an inch of snow at the winery, can we?

Apparently yes... yes we can. I felt like I was transported into a dream world listening to Postal Service on my way to work this morning; noticing how serene the landscape was, the beauty of the pines with snow on their long branches in the hills between Sherwood and Newberg. It might have been one of the most enjoyable commutes down 99W (I kept thanking my lucky stars that I just happened to have a 4 wheel drive truck a friend left me to take to work) if it weren't for the traffic. But even the traffic didn't aggravate me today, which is quite remarkable considering it usually, wait, always does. Despite the beauty, I kept thinking wistfully to let this be the one last Lion blast from March before the Lamb of spring welcomes light drizzle, warmer days and some peaks of sun; all essential in what is most exciting for me at the winery... bud break!

So while the daffodils, crocuses and pansies surrounding the tasting room add a pop of color to the wintery white landscape so late in March, this tasting room sales associate is looking forward to more spring-like weather. Can you hear me Mother Nature?! I guess until then I'll just cozy by the fire place with a bottle of pinot in hand...
