SOKOL-BLOSSER REDLAND VERTICAL

Ruth’s Chris Steak House (in their new location),

850 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97205

Bill and Susan Sokol-Blosser were truly pioneers when they began Sokol-Blosser winery and vineyards in 1971. From 1988 – 1996 they made Redland Pinot Noir; which was their top end Pinot Noir in those vintages. It’s a blend of their Dundee Hills and Highland vineyard grapes. This spectacular combination produced rich, balanced wines quite worthy of aging. But nothing lasts forever and they are drinking remarkably well right now.

Unfortunately, 1996 was the last vintage of Redland (thereafter, these grapes went into their reserve wines). Fortunately, we have ample quantities for a vertical tasting of 1988 through 1994 vintages. These wines were made by then winemaker John Haw who is no longer with the winery. But we are pleased to announce a winery representative familiar with all the Redland wines will attend this Black Tie Optional event.

We will start with a Perrier Jouet Champagne Reception. Then enjoy 2010 Sokol-Blosser Willamette Valley Early Muscat, Evolution White – 15th Edition, Evolution Red – 2nd Edition, and its predecessor, Meditrina. Following the Redland, we will enjoy 2002 Sokol Blosser Late Harvest Reisling with our dessert.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House recently moved from their former location on SW 3rd Avenue to a much more modern building in Portland’s downtown theater district. They still offer the same outstanding service and cuisine. We will tentatively have a soup, salad, main course, and dessert.

Downtown parking meters and most truck loading zones offer Free Parking on the street beginning at 7:00pm
